Removal of Tumour, Cyst, Ulcer or Scar M B S item selection guide

 

This table outlines the M B S items and descriptors for removal by surgical excision, other than shave excision, of tumour, cyst, ulcer or scar, other than a scar removed during the surgical approach at an operation.

 

The items donít restrict with each other as they are specifically for different lesion sizes and the amount of lesions removed.

 

These items must be sent for histological examination.

 

Item 3 1 2 0 6, removal from a mucous membrane by surgical excision. For lesion size less than 10 millimetres.

 

Item 3 1 2 1 1, removal from a mucous membrane by surgical excision. For lesion size 10 to 20 millimetres.

 

Item 3 1 2 1 6, removal from mucous membrane by surgical excision. For lesion size greater than 20 millimetres.

 

Item 3 1 2 2 0, removal from cutaneous tissue, 4 to 10 lesions. For lesion size less than 10 millimetres.

 

Item 3 1 2 2 1, removal from a mucous membrane, of 4 to 10 lesions. For lesion size less than 10 millimetres.

 

Item 3 1 2 2 5, removal from cutaneous, subcutaneous tissue or mucous membrane, more than 10 lesions. For lesion size less than 10 millimetres.

 

Items 3 1 2 2 0 and 3 1 2 2 5 arenít for excision of viral verrucae, common warts, and seborrheic keratosis.
