Malignant Skin Lesion M B S Item Selection Guide

Histological malignancy confirmation must be received before itemisation of accounts with the relevant skin malignancy item ensuring the items descriptor has been met in full.

You must bill an appropriate non malignant item if histological confirmation of malignancy isnít available at the time of issuing account.

 

This list outlines the M B S items and descriptors for malignant skin lesions.

Item 3 1 3 5 6, tumour removed from Nose, eyelid, eyebrow, lip, ear, digit or genitalia, or from a contiguous area. For lesion size less than 6 millimetres

Item 3 1 3 5 8, tumour removed from Nose, eyelid, eyebrow, lip, ear, digit or genitalia, or from a contiguous area. For lesion size greater than 6 millimetres

Item 3 1 3 5 9, tumour removed from Nose, eyelid, eyebrow, lip, ear, digit or genitalia, or from a contiguous area. This item is restricted to in hospital services only. For lesion size at least one third of the surface area.

Item 3 1 3 6 1, tumour removed from Face, neck, scalp, nipple areola complex, distal limb, upper and lower. For lesion size less than 14 millimetres.

Item 3 1 3 6 3, tumour removed from Face, neck, scalp, nipple areola complex, distal limb, upper and lower. For lesion size greater than 14 millimetres.

Item 3 1 3 6 5, tumour removed from any part of the body other than above. For lesion size less than 15 millimetres.

Item 3 1 3 6 7, tumour removed from any part of the body other than above. For lesion size from 15 to 30 millimetres.

Item 3 1 3 6 9, tumour removed from any part of the body other than above. For lesion size greater than 30 millimetres.
